The Larder is an employability social enterprise with various bustling cafes across West Lothian. They aim to work with vulnerable people far from the job market, predominately young people, to gain confidence and take the next step towards employment or further education.
The Larder prides itself in offering excellent food with great customer service as standard, whilst creating a positive impact within the community. They’re approach to employability is person-centred with focus on nurturing and empowering vulnerable people.
The main challenge which was disected from the client brief was to create a brand which would be professional enough to appeal to schools, energetic to appeal to pupils and not too prestigious as to intimidate those pupils who may already lack the confidence to enter the work place.
In response to this brief we created a brand which is naturual, homely and brimming with life. We wanted the brand to suggest a safe and caring environment in which pupils can pick up the key ingredients to build their futures. We achieved this through a mixture of colourful illustrations, an expressive hand cut logo mark and empowering messaging which hopes to inspire people of all ages to join the organisation and puts the vast array of skills that The Larder has to offer on show.
The finishing touch for this project was the slogan "Recipes for life." This phrase conjures up not only a homemade cooking book of recipes, but also hammers home the point of the organisation, these skills will last a life time.
